We understand that it can be very intimidating when you’re first starting out, especially when contacting somewhere strange and new. That’s why we strive to make the process as easy, friendly and relaxing as possible.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with your questions and we’ll work with you to help make the right choice, but we have a list of common queries explained below.

Remember, we were in your shoes once upon a time too, making the first step is what counts.

Class Ages

We have a guideline we follow for the classes in terms of age, however, the students ability to follow the class mentally and physically is also a deciding factor. Until we get to know the student and their abilities (especially younger children) we cannot guarantee what class they’ll be in.

As you can turn up for the class, please turn up for the class that suits the students age and we will go from there.

Our Classes are defined as follows:

Tiger Cubs:
Tiger Cubs are our youngest students, they’re aged between 4 and 7 years old.

Juniors:
Juniors are our 8 to 11 year olds.

Warriors:
Warriors are our teen class covering ages 12 to 18 years.

Seniors:
Seniors are from ages 18+

Kobudo:
Kobudo is a weapons teaching class and is open to ages 7+

Home Education:
Our Home Education classes are run to suit the needs of the Home Education Community however, if you’re free to train when these classes are being held then we’d love to see you there. They’re open to all ages as it’s a mixed session.

Family Class:
Our Family class is for you to come with your family member and train, this is nice if the family are split over different age categories as this class will enable you to train together. It’s open to all ages as it’s a mixed session.

Private Class:
Private Classes are available to book online here or in the club and give you private 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 tuition with Shihan Craig.

Other costs

Once the student joins the classes and decides we’re the martial arts family for them there are other costs which need to be covered.

They are:

Membership:
Becoming a member of White Tiger Warrior Arts is vital once you’ve been with us for a month. A month is a great amount of time to know if we’re the place for you. After that, we need to ensure you’re a member as this covers your insurance too.

When you take out your membership it covers you for 12 months from the date of your purchase. Then annually it will require renewal.

Upon first purchase, you will get a complimentary Budo Pass which is a record book for keeping track of your achievements within the organisation.

The cost of memberships is £25 per year.
(or £80 per year if there are 4+ family members training from the same household).

Everything can be purchased in the club, paying with cash or card, or you can purchase a membership here.

Gi (training suit):
Training suits are an integral part of the training, it brings a sense of pride whilst keeping traditions strong. It also serves to protect the student’s own clothes. It’s not uncommon for Gi’s to get a bit worn and haggard as you progress the belts.

Gi’s can be purchased in the club or here on the website and prices start from £30.

Gradings:
Finally, the last outgoings are the gradings (exams). They’re held every 3 months. The majority of students will grade 3 monthly and progress to the next belt, however, some students do take longer.

Kyu gradings (the coloured belts) are priced between £20 and £40.

Gradings can be paid for in the club or online.

The instructor tell the student if they’re ready to grade and students who are NOT ready will NOT be put forward. Our goal is for your students to pass their gradings.
